| Knew I shouldnt of used that second hit of naws :) Seriously though, I think I have the first instance of Greg D's inconel manifolds cracking :( Could hear some nasty leaks for a while now, were coming from the manifold. The nice thing is that with Gregs manifolds its actually only a 3 hour job to remove the manifold and turbo with the engine in (after dropping the gearbox) cause it allows more access. Anyway, initially the problem was the manifold was warped where it joins to the block. The gaskets were all toasted and initially the manifolds looked ok, so the gaskets were replaced and once the car was run again, it was found it was still leaking. Anyway, as the manifolds got hot, they were actually warping and moving out a bit over 1mm out from the block. Had to take them both out to the machine shop, heat them up and then deck them. Now to be fair, when the original mob put the engine together, they didnt use any spring washers or locknuts so the manifolds had been coming loose a couple of times so maybe this helped cause some warping, I dont know. Anyway, it was all put back together and damn, another leak. Its hard to hear one until the other is fixed. On closer inspection there is a crack near where the turbo bolts on just a few mm away from the weld. Going to weld over this and put everything back together again. Yes they were always used with flex pipes on the exhaust also. Just thought I'd share the news. Not to knock Gregs product as its great, but unfortunately not indestructable like I first thought when I bought them. I originally thought these actually had a lifetime guarantee against cracking when I bought them but a look at Gregs site says only 1 :( I will make sure I let Greg know if he doesnt read it here.
